The provincial government has recently announce a Rebate Program for eligible Alberta Greenhouses:
What does the Rebate Program provide?
Eligible greenhouse operators can receive a grant equal to 80% of the carbon levy paid on their eligible purchases of natural gas and propane used for crop production related to heating their greenhouse.
Who can participate?
A registered legal entity operating a commercial greenhouse in Alberta with sales of eligible crops exceeding $20,000 in the 12 months prior to the application date. Also, new start ups (less than 12 months) with anticipated annual sales exceeding $20,000 in the 12 months after the application date.
How do I apply?
Eligible applicants complete and submit Part 1 and 2 of the application form, producer survey, and copies of eligible fuel invoices and receipts.
How are grant payments calculated?
Grants are determined using calculations set out in Schedule A in Terms and Conditions.
Are Vertical Greenhouses eligible?
Yes. To be eligible, a greenhouse means a heated commercial greenhouse pace under an enclosed area to grow veggies, fruit, bedding plants, cut flowers, ornamental plants, tree seedlings, medicinal plants or other plants in Alberta.
I use coal to heat my greenhouse, is it eligible?
No. Only applicants who use natural gas or propane are eligible.

July 1, 2017 to August 15, 2017
January 1, 2018 to February 15, 2018
July 1, 2018 to August 15, 2018
January 1, 2019 to February 15, 2019
